A 1,200-foot vertical drop, 125 skiable acres and terrain from beginner slopes to expert runs make Sugar a natural starting point for a full mountain weekend near Banner Elk.

Who is this mountain best for?

Skiers and riders who want a longer vertical drop and a choice of terrain. Sugar’s 1,200 feet of vertical is the largest among these six NC ski areas; beginner slopes and ski school also make it an option for mixed-ability groups.
