Where to stay

A better home base.

Choose the mountain first. Then book a stay that fits your group, your arrival plan and the winter drive.

Compare the whole stay, not just the nightly rate. Include fees, parking, cancellation terms and the route to rental pickup or ski school. “Near the slopes” does not necessarily mean walkable or ski-in/ski-out.

Banner Elk area

Sugar Mountain

Choose between a slope-focused stay on Sugar Mountain and a base around Banner Elk. Check access to the base lodge, not just proximity to a ski run.

Before you book

Ask about access.

Request the exact address, winter driveway-maintenance arrangements, parking limits, and any vehicle or traction requirements specified by the host. Ask who to call if conditions delay arrival.

Ask about the terms.

Read the total checkout price and cancellation policy. Confirm whether a resort closure changes your lodging terms rather than assuming a snow trip is refundable.

Less planning. More mountain.
